This past weekend, one of my closest friends threw me a Brunch Themed Baby Shower, and it was seriously the best afternoon celebrating this sweet girl before her arrival. Complete with old and new friends, it was a potluck style baby shower, and we ate on some of my absolute favorite foods. And everyone got a good buzz off some mimosas while I watched. Truthfully, I could not have planned a better afternoon for myself, and I was so surprised with how much she paid attention to detail. Everything from my favorite foods, flavors (cake), and flowers–it was perfect.
When I was pregnant with Grayson, my husband and I lived in Washington State and knew absolutely no one for the majority of the time we spent there. We had no friends or family close by, and, when the time to have a baby shower came around, I just didn’t have one. During this pregnancy, I decided early on that I didn’t want a shower again. Partially because I don’t know that many people here and partially because I just didn’t want to fuss with it. That sounds horrible. Thankfully, my friend pestered me about it for the last four months, and I’m so glad that she did.
Everything was very simplistic, which I love. I’ve never been super into extravagant anything (except makeup and skincare routines and Target trips). She incorporated a ton of florals even in the cake, beautiful floral arrangements in Mason jars, including my favorite flowers–Sunflowers.
Each guest received a mini succulent when they left. If you follow my Instagram, you’ll see that I was all over town looking for the $1.99 Mini Succulents from Aldi on Friday. Which, if they’re still on sale, you need to high tail it to your nearest Aldi and grab some. (I haven’t killed mine yet, if anyone was wondering).
Potluck style is my favorite because everyone can bring a little something, and you’re left with tons of options for everyone to choose from. We snacked on everything from Spinach and Artichoke Dip to Donuts.
We even had trays of Chick Fil A Chicken Minis, as well as some Chick Fil A Nuggets sandwiched between two mini waffles and drizzled with syrup. (This was my favorite).
Mimosas were also flowing for everyone but me…I was guzzling water and sparkling grape juice.
I had such a great time celebrating this baby, and I can’t wait for her to be here! We have about 4 weeks now until my due date–and I can’t believe how close we are!
