Festive Fourth of July Rice Krispy Treat Pops

June 25, 2019 in DIY, Food, Recipe, Recipes - No Comments

If there’s one thing that I’m really good at, it’s last minute…anything. I’ve always been a huge procrastinator, but
I end up getting it done in the end. With July 4th coming up, I wanted to make and share a quick and easy sweet treat. These Festive Fourth of July Rice Krispy Treats are perfect to take to any cookout or holiday party. They even make a really cute table scape if you need to spruce up your decor!

By adding cardboard straws to these, I was able to turn them into “Pops”, that fit perfectly into mason jars to set on your table. Tie a colorful bow around them and BAM–decor you can eat.

Making the Rice Krispy Treats

This is a simple rice krispy treat recipe, make it yours and add whatever your family enjoys. We added a bit more marshmallows to make them extra gooey, chocolate chips to some, etc.

Everything I found to make these, I picked up at Walmart–straws, ribbon, etc.

You will need:

  • 6 cups Rice Krispy or Frosted Krispy Cereal
  • 1 1/2 Bags Mini Marshmallows
  • 6 tablespoons Butter
  • Sprinkles, Candy Melts, etc for decorating
  • *Optional* Paper Straws, to make Krispy Treats into Pops!

Prepare baking sheet–you can coat with a little butter, parchment paper, or foil. Set aside. Melt the butter in a medium sauce pan over medium heat, slowly add in the marshmallows and stir continuously until melted, and then add the cereal in. Mix until well combined (a wooden spoon worked best here), and pour into prepared baking sheet. Wet your hands a little (I found this super helpful so that my hands didn’t stick to the mixture), and press down until it covers the pan evenly. Let set for at least 30 minutes before cutting into them.

I ended up putting mine in the fridge because they needed to be a little more solid to use a cookie cutter and create the shapes I wanted.

Once I had my star shapes, I inserted the straws, melted my candy melts and began decorating!

These were such a hit, not just with the kids but with the adults as well!

  • Today is #NationalPeanutButterDay! 🥜
This sandwich is probably one of my favorites ever to make. I started making it back in 2015 when I was breastfeeding Grayson and forever hungry. Typically, I make it with bacon...but my husband ate all of the bacon and didn’t tell me. 🤦🏻‍♀️
(It’s just as good with sausage though). I used my @unprocessyourfood Dash Mini Waffle Maker to make these delicious homemade waffles, which I then spread a nice helping of @samsclub Members Mark Natural No-Stir Creamy Peanut Butter on top of. I topped it with some fluffy scrambled eggs and a breakfast sausage patty. To complete it, each sandwich gets a drizzle of maple syrup.
I love a good salty and sweet combo.
Also, I’m still trying to figure out my best space in this new kitchen to take my photos. Bare with me while I do!
  • I’ve been gone from this space for so long... I don’t know what’s happening. Am I doing this right? 😂😂 #dollypartonchallenge
  • I wasn’t a huge fan of 2019, honestly. We struggled in a lot of ways, and I’m sure (I know) that some of that will trickle in to 2020 as well. But, we had some really great moments.
Like this one...seems simple and sweet but it’s probably one of my favorite days of 2019. We were randomly buying eggs at Sam’s...I was having an awful day and felt super depressed at all of the obstacles on our plate. I was even mad that my husband made me get dressed and leave the house.. When we got in the car to drive home though, we got the news that we were approved for our house! (Which I will talk more about as we start gearing up to move on the 16th). Having just one thing we were worried about taken off our plate was just what I needed that day. Just. What. I. Needed.
Happy New Year, y’all!
  • 👋🏻 👀 We did something potentially super exciting today. Keep your fingers and toes crossed for us, and keep us in your thoughts, as we will either have really good news right after Christmas or really crappy news. Hahaha.
