My air fryer is probably my most favorite cooking appliance. Literally, I put everything in there. It’s quick, easy, and everything (especially frozen things) taste WAY better when you air fry them. I even created this “Are Air Fryers Worth the Hype?” post last year, after a month of testing them. Spoiler Alert: They Are. After seeing an Air Fryer Pizza Egg Roll video on TikTok, I knew that I wanted to recreate it, but with a spin on one of my absolute favorite meals–the cheeseburger. Follow along as I share how I made these really simple but delicious Air Fried Cheeseburger Egg Rolls.
You guys already know that I am all about the quick, easy, kid-approved meals here! I also do pretty well when I throw random things together hoping it tastes good. My take on this classic really hit the spot, and my kids cleaned their plates (which is a feat in itself). I served this meal over lettuce–for myself, and with some good old fashioned crinkle fries… which I also air fried.
I’m also not about babbling when I know good and well that you’re just here for the recipe– so let’s get to it.

You can scroll to the very bottom of the page to get the printable version of this recipe!
YOU WILL NEED:
(This will be enough to feed 5-6 people WELL, I always cook with the intent to have leftovers–so adjust accordingly)
- 1 1/2 LB Ground Beef (Sub Ground Turkey if Preferred)
- 1/2 Cup White or Red Onion
- 1 Pack Egg Roll Wrappers (Found at my Local Grocery Store–1 LB Pack–Didn’t Use All)
- 1 Cup Shredded Cheese (Mild or Sharp) You can sub for American Slices if you Prefer to get even more authentic burger flavor.
- 2 TBSP Ketchup
- 1 TBSP Mustard
- 1/2 Cup Pickles, Diced
- 2-3 TBSP Worcestershire Sauce
- Salt, Pepper, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Montreal Steak Seasoning (All Optional, and all To Taste)
- Egg Wash (One Egg and a Splash of Milk–whisked together) This is to help seal your egg rolls and to place on the top “crust”, to create a golden brown color.
Start by putting your diced onions in a pan on medium-high heat with a little bit of oil, I’ve been using avocado, and saute until translucent. You can (and should) add some freshly minced garlic at this point too.. I was out. Once that becomes fragrant, add in your ground beef and cook until brown. I added my Worcestershire sauce at this point as well, prior to straining the meat of any excess grease.
Once you’ve browned and drained your ground beef/onion mixture, you can go ahead and place it in a medium-large bowl. At this point, you need to add in your condiments (this is also when you’d add universal toppings like pickles, bacon, etc–as long as everyone you’re cooking for likes them it’s fine to add during this step).
(My kids don’t like pickles so my mixture is strictly the ketchup and mustard–nothing else. It’ll look like this, and you can begin to assemble your egg rolls.
When you begin assembling, you can also add things like cheese and pickles to the top of the egg mixture.
Alright, stick with me folks because I just learned this myself. You need to lay your wrapper out like a diamond on a flat surface. This is important to make sure that you get a perfect roll! To explain it a bit further: the corner furthest from you will be corner 1, corner 2 will be to the left, and corner 3 will be to the right. The corner closest to you will be corner 4. This will ensure that it closes properly when you roll it up.
Spoon (1-2 TBSP) of your ground meat mixture into the wrapper, add toppings–cheese, pickles, etc to the top. (Try to keep this below the line between corners 2 and 3).
Using your finger, or a small brush, spread some of the egg wash along the edges of your wrapper from corners 2 to 1 and then from 1 to 3.
Now you’re ready to start folding your wrapper– start by folding corner 4 towards corner one..make sure to tighten up the mixture as you’re doing this. Then, fold over corner 2 and then corner 3. Be sure that your egg wash keeps both corners sealed. Then roll it all towards corner one. Repeat this step until your mixture is completely gone. When all of your egg rolls are finished, use the remainder of the egg wash to spread over the tops to create a nice golden crust in the fryer.
My rolls didn’t come out perfect on each one, but that’s okay! As long as they’re closed, they won’t fall apart when you put them in the air fryer.
I put mine in (I had about 7-8 on each air fryer rack–one rack at a time) on 370 for 8-9 minutes. You want to really watch them to make sure that they’re not getting too crispy, because they’ll be way too crunchy to eat.
Truly, I was so impressed with how these came out! I’ve made them two times since I first developed this recipe. The first time, I dipped them in “Fry Sauce” — which is basically a mix of mayo and ketchup, and it was absolutely heavenly.
If you’re a burger lover like me, these Air Fried Cheeseburger Egg Rolls will for sure be a hit.
